Woman injured trying to get her shoe out of the road
An Ohio woman was injured Monday evening when she reportedly ran into the roadway to retrieve her shoe and was struck by a semi on Interstate 35 three miles north of the Iowa border.
Rachel Marie Miles, 34, of Middleburg Heights, Ohio, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Miles’ right foot was reportedly struck by the front right passenger-side tire of the semi.
The State Patrol report indicated Miles was the passenger in a Chevrolet Impala that was stopped on the shoulder of the interstate at the time of the crash.
The driver of the car, Adam Everett Miles, 34, also of Middleburg Heights, was not injured, though court records indicate he was charged Tuesday with one count of fifth-degree controlled substance possession.
The report stated William Arthur Hanson, 61, of Dodge, Wisconsin, was the driver of the 2014 Kenworth semi.
Hanson reportedly maneuvered from the right lane to the left lane to avoid the woman.
Man injured on I-35
A 60-year-old Albert Lea man was injured Monday afternoon when he reportedly lost control of the 2007 Dodge Ram he was driving and went into a cable barrier on Interstate 35 in northern Freeborn County.
Sunday Abiola Ogunkanbi was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.
His injuries were not life-threatening, according to the State Patrol.
Motorcyclist injured on interstate ramp
An Iowa man was injured Saturday when he reportedly lost control of the motorcycle he was driving and crashed on the northbound Interstate 35 ramp to eastbound Interstate 90.
Daniel Jordan Reinsch of Roland, Iowa, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.
The State Patrol report states Reinsch was in a 2011 Harley-Davidson Shrine Heritage motorcycle when he lost control of the bike, and the motorcycle went over onto its right side.
His injuries were not life-threatening.
