Eunice Bendickson, 1928-2019

Eunice Bendickson, 91, of Northwood passed away Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church, 309 Ninth St. N. in Northwood. The Rev. Judy Converse will officiate. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Should friends desire, memorials may be sent to First Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.

Eunice Bendickson was born May 18, 1928, in Myrtle, the only daughter of Alex and Laura (Theiss) Schilling. She grew up in Myrtle and graduated from Albert Lea High School with the class of 1946.

She was united in marriage to Arthur “Art” Bendickson on May 29, 1949, at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Myrtle, and to this union three children were born.

Eunice and Art made their home in Northwood and enjoyed raising their children in the Northwood community.

She worked as the Worth County deputy auditor for 23 years, retiring in 1991.

Eunice and Art enjoyed fishing, camping and attending athletic events, especially her children’s and grandchildren’s events. She was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Twins.

Eunice was very active and was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church, singing in the choir, participating in circle, Dial Gods Word and also with the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.

Those left to cherish her memory are her three children, Barry (Wendy) Bendickson of Forest City, Steve (Linda) Bendickson of Albert Lea and Rebecca (Mark) Goebel of Waterloo, Nebraska; five grandchildren, Kristen (Ted) Carpenter, Tori (Ryan) Eastvold, Daniel Goebel, David Goebel and Hannah Goebel; and five great-grandchildren, Cody Carpenter, Jacob Carpenter, Luke Carpenter, Rylee Eastvold and Nevaeh Eastvold.

Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Bendickson; parents Alex and Laura Schilling; grandson, Ryan Bendickson; daughter in-law, Patty Bendickson; and five brothers, Roy, Donald, Alexander “Fritz,” Gerald and Kenneth Schilling.
