Jean Hanson

Jean passed away of natural causes Sunday, July 14, 2019, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community. She was 89.

Jean was born March 1, 1930, in Wells to Homer and Margaret (Ober) Blake.

She was baptized at First Methodist Church in Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School in 1949.

In October of that year, she married Richard Hanson at First Methodist Church in Albert Lea.

In 1951 their daughter, Cheri, was born, and in 1953 their son, Ronnie, joined the family.

Richard and Jean had a good life. Both were very hard workers and provided a nice home for their family. Fun vacations and good times were had! She loved having her family present — especially spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

After retirement they spent a month in Hawaii with friends.

Jean worked 25 years at Boyd and Jack’s Grocery Store in Albert Lea. Jean also worked at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community in the dietary service department.

Jean loved taking care of her rose bushes and keeping the house clean, as well as cooking for her family.

The family favorite was her beef roast, homemade noodles and mashed potatoes. She kept up with old friends, having weekly golfing outings with her good friend, Dolly Feeley, and going to breakfast with old Boyd and Jack’s co-workers, and would walk at Northbridge Mall with her friends often. Every Saturday for the past year she would have coffee and treats in the sun room at Thorne Crest with Betty, Dolly, Rita and Cheri. Alton Krikava would often visit Jean, both growing up across the road in Hartland in their youth.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Cheri Wehrenberg; grandson, Andrew Hanson; her great-grandchildren Sy’Dontay, Alijah, Gabriel and Ariel Williams; grandson, Blake Wehrenberg; great-grandson, Brady Wehrenberg; sister, Betty Johnson; sisters-in-law Lola Blake and Sharon Hanson; brother in-law, Wesley (Lola) Hanson; daughter in-law, Barb Hanson; and many nieces and nephews.

Jean is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; both parents; father and mother in-law Alfred (Della) Hanson; son, Ron Hanson; granddaughter, Adrienne Hanson; son-in-law, Mike Wehrenberg; grandson-in-law, Charles Williams; brothers Gordy, Dick (Phyllis) and Harold Blake; and brothers and sisters-in-law Alton (Marlene) Sherman, Roger Hanson, Jeanette (Duane) Bridley, Ralph Johnson and Delores Hanson.

It brings peace to the family knowing she is in heaven and at peace. She left her family with happy and beautiful memories. God bless.

Memorials are preferred to the family.
