Letter: Albert Lea lucky to have its community theater group

We are so blessed and lucky to have Albert Lea Community Theatre plays for 54 years. That is 54 years of people volunteering, actors, singers and dancers, directors, board members, folks in the box office, ushers, etc. To all involved in ACT, we say in the words of Gomer Pyle, “Thank you, thank you, thank you!”

I was so lucky to see “State Fair” last night. The 38 cast members were terrific. They sang and danced their way through the entire play. Not only were the musical numbers glorious, but it also had  so many funny parts. Also, the nine musicians playing in the orchestra were right on their toes. The production staff had many scenery changes that went off like clockwork up on the stage.

The whole deal is a happiness pill. Like they sing in the opening and closing song, “Our state fair is a great state fair. Don’t miss it. Don’t even be late.”

My son, Todd, and Connie, who live in Northfield, took their family to a play in Faribault two years ago. Also, they have the director come out and speak to the audience before the play starts. Todd called me when they got home. He said this director told the audience, “Welcome, thank you for coming, etc.” Then, at the end of his little speech, he said, “It is the goal of our community theater to get as good as the Albert Lea Community Theatre.” A very nice compliment.

Don’t miss it.

Don’t even be late.

I’ll give you double your money back if you don’t like and enjoy “State Fair.”
