Letter: Solutions for proposed marina

My solution for the proposed Bridge Avenue marina. With the fire station moving and ambulance garage already moved to Clark Street, why not have the marina directly across from the fire station? The city could close down Fountain Street from the rear entry of St. Theodore’s church to North Newton Avenue and make it a walking boulevard where the food trucks could park. Lease the fire station to a tax-paying entity such as a restaurant, boat marina or a bar and grill. The library would still be accessible from the rear via Newton Avenue through the parking lot. Traffic from Bridge could be routed up Clark Street, and disperse from there. All the amenities accessible from having the marina on Bridge would just be a short walk away. We are a Blue Zones community. This option would be easier to make handicap accessible as well. With more room between the lake and the sidewalk, people wouldn’t be in each others’ way when loading and unloading.
