Vincent married Kathryn Mary Doocy on Nov. 9, 1948, in Ledyard, Iowa. Their witnesses were Georgia and Carlyle. She passed away on their 67th wedding anniversary.

Vincent was a jack of all trades, master of many, self-taught at all of them. He was a very honest, admirable and intelligent man. Vince never forgot a name or a date. His mind never left him. Everyone will remember his firm handshake and his deep belly laugh. “He is our very unique antique,” his family said.

He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and the Albert Lea Moose Lodge, to which he was extremely dedicated. He spent many hours fixing and remodeling the lodge. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He could always find someone he knew.

His children and grandchildren fulfilled one of his lifelong dreams by taking him and Kathryn to his parents’ homeland in Norway. He also checked off a bucket list item at age 91 when he jumped out of a perfectly good airplane.

Vincent is survived by his children Sandra Brandt, Arden (Debra) Engelby, David Engelby, Darwin (Dawn) Engelby and Michelle (Allen Karge) Engelby; grandchildren Shane (Liz) Brandt, Cory (Sarah) Brandt, Scott (Elis) Brandt, Shawn Marie (Shawn Michael) Cochran, Brian Engelby, Chad (Laura) Engelby, Robyn McComb, Amber Engelby, Heather (Adam) Quimby, Sara (Shane Chapek) Engelby, Brady (Ashley) Engelby, Christopher Karge and Noah Karge; great-grandchildren Alysha (Ryan) Patterson, Kaden, Kesley, Kora, Kinnick, Nephi, Kyrie, Kason Brandt (three adoptions-to-be), Truman and Iris Brandt, Jax Brandt, Brynja and Leighton Cochran, Bryson Engelby, Carter McComb, Kyler and Liam Quimby, Blake Schulz, Chase Karge and McKinlee Engelby; Maryls Siebert (you are my sunshine); nieces, nephews and other relatives; and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Kathryn; two granddaughters, Jodie Brandt and Hannah Engelby-Karge; grandson, Lee Brandt; son-in-law, Sherwin Brandt; four brothers; and three sisters.
