Letter: Where are the Republican letters?

Published 8:47 pm Wednesday, September 4, 2019

In August I had the privilege of working the Democratic booth at the fair. I was complimented by several people who wanted to shake my hand and tell me how much they enjoyed my letters to the editor. Most of them asked me when I was going to write another one. I told them that I didn’t think it wad necessary. Trump was doing everything that hurt him for himself. I was told that my letters were the only ones that made sense.

Have you noticed there hasn’t been one letter in rebuttal to my letters since Obama was president? I don’t know what is wrong with those far-right Trump supporters. They don’t want to defend their vote or talk about politics, which shows they are not so dumb after all. I don’t blame them. After all, they have their right to their opinion no matter how wrong it may be.

Trump won the farmers’ vote in the last election. Now, his policies have reduced their income by 23%. And his latest trick he has lowered the amount of ethanol that was put in gasoline. Now you know this is going to hurt the farmers again. It is also going to raise the price of gas. It’s not hard to see who Trump is rubbing elbows with. It is the big oil companies. The prices of merchandise and gas is going to go up because his tariffs are due to go into effect now.  This is going to affect you and me and the average Joe.

I would like to invite some far-right Republican farmer to write a letter to the editor and talk about why he is going to vote for Trump again and the reasons why. I would like to invite a far-right Republican to write a letter and explain why Trump gave the filthy rich all those tax breaks and it isn’t called socialism. When money is given to the less fortunate it is called socialism.

I would be surprised if a far-right Republican can answer these questions. The silence of those far-right Republicans in the paper is just deafening. I am still bragging. I didn’t vote for Trump.
