Workforce Development now known as CareerForce; services to remain the same

While the sign says something different than before, the services offered at CareerForce, previously Workforce Development Inc., will largely stay the same, staff said.

Though the organization held its open house Wednesday, CareerForce rebranded in November, Career Planner and Placement and Outreach Specialist Valerie Kvale said.

The name change came with a bigger push to unite partners in Minnesota’s workforce system in an effort to “increase efficiency, improve communication and enhance collaboration between CareerForce staff and partners,” a CareerForce press release stated.

“We’re all after the same thing: helping businesses find employees and employees find jobs,” Kvale said.

But the first thing, Kvale said, was getting people accustomed to the name change so they didn’t hang up the phone when a different name answered their calls.

Partners and services will remain the same; CareerForce will still offer monthly resume classes, practice interviews, information about job openings, consultations with career planners and computers for people to submit online job applications, Kvale said.

“We’re so much more than just (helping) you find a job,” she said.

CareerForce, at 2200 Riverland Drive, is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
