She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and became involved in church circles and county 4-H activities throughout the years. Ardis enjoyed hobbies such as needlework and bird watching. She kept an extensive collection of scrapbooks that documented the many changes and history of the Alden community. It brought her joy to reminisce about years past and all the many changes she witnessed over her lifetime.

Ardis always had a special relationship with her only sister, Evelyn, and cherished the memories and adventures the two had. Above all else, family meant the world to her, and the pride she had for her two sons and their families was undeniable.

The Lord granted Ardis a long, full life, and the mark she left on this world will not be forgotten. Blessed be her memory.

Survivors include her two sons, Glen Mathiason and Bob (Cindy) Mathiason; granddaughters Shannan Nelson, Kendra Mathiason and Krista Mathiason (Eric Johnson); great-grandchildren Noah and Bryn Nelson; sister-in-law, Dagmar Jacobson of Rice Lake, Wisconsin; and several nieces and nephews.

Ardis was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Anker Mathiason; daughter-in-law, Jill Mathiason; sister, Evelyn Koetke; sister-in-laws Valborg Smith, Betty Brandt, Hilda Duncan and Astrid Mathiason; brother-in-laws Kenneth Koetke and Arnold Mathiason; and many extended family and friends that were a part of her life.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the St. John’s Lutheran Community-Woodlands staff for all their care and attentiveness during Ardie’s final days.
