Dagny Gniffke, 1922-2019

Dagny Lois Gniffke, 97, of Falconhead Community, Burneyville, Oklahoma, died Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at Lake Country Nursing Center in Marietta, Oklahoma.
She was born July 15, 1922, in Cottonwood to Anton Kompelien and Margaret Hoftieg Kompelien.
Dagny graduated from high school in Cottonwood. She married Aubner Edward Gniffke on April 5, 1942, in Cottonwood. He preceded her in death Oct. 9, 1998. They moved from Cottonwood to Hayward with their young family in 1951.
In 1979, after a long life of farming, they decided to retire and move to Falconhead. Dagny was an active church member who loved singing in the choir. At Falconhead, she took up golfing and loved it. Her last seven years were spent at Lake Country Nursing Center. Her family appreciates the loving care she received at Lake Country Nursing Center. Dagny enjoyed life at every stage.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
She is survived by her son, Curtis Owen Gniffke of Moscow; three daughters, Marion Diane Leimbach of Marcel, Bonnie Marie Paczkowski of Minneapolis and Barbara Jeanne Selby of Ardmore, Oklahoma; sister, Ramona Hanson; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 26 at St. Lucas Lutheran Church in Minneota.
