The closing of our hospital is a matter of life and death for some people, according to an article in the Sept. 29 Star Tribune. Patients who had to travel an additional 15 miles for time-sensitive care suffered an increase in the death rate of 10%.

This is just one of many reasons why support of the Albert Lea Health Care Coalition is so important to the people of Albert Lea. By bringing in a second provider, we will see a much lower cost of health care for our younger people and businesses that will result in millions of dollars of savings to our community. And, yes, it will create a partnership between Albert Lea and MercyOne, where we will be involved in the health services offered.
