Duplicate Bridge

Nine teams played Duplicate Bridge Oct. 22 at the Senior Center in Austin. Winners were Joyce Crowe and Millie Siever, first place; Engebretson and Orrin Roisen, second place; Edna Knobbe and Rick Stroup, third place; Gail and Ray Schmidt, fourth place; and Jim Fisher and Dave Ring.

Six tables played Duplicate Bridge Oct. 23 at the Senior Center in Austin. Winners were Dave Ring and Orrin Roisen, first place; Tom Flaherty and Stan Schultz, second place;

Gail and Ray Schmidy, third place; Vandy Newman and Ron Peters, fourth place; Joyce Crowe and Millie Siever, fifth place; and John Leisen and Rick Stroup, sixth place.

Duplicate Bridge is played at 12:30 p.m. Tuesdays and at noon Wednesdays. Players come from Adams, Austin, Albert Lea, Rose Creek, Northwood and Mason City. All bridge players are welcome to come play. Those who need a partner can call 507-437-2750.

Lens and Shutter Photography Club

The Lens and Shutter Photography Club had its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 17 in room 465 of the lower level of Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. Club President Darcy Sime presided over the meeting. Eleven members were in attendance.

October’s competition category was animals. Members receiving awards were Liz Reichl, who received first place for “Tigers;” Ron Oyer, who received second place for “Looking for dinner;” and John Eisterhold, who received third place for “I need a new collar.”

Honorable mentions were awarded to Linda Eisterhold, Ron Oyer and Alison Witter. Members receiving merit awards were Bev Oyer, Jean Aamodt and Mitch Pederson.

Jim Wendel gave a presentation on editing with Photoshop.

Sime provided the evening’s refreshments.

The club will display prints from the previous months competition at Farmers State Bank in Albert Lea.

The club will also display prints of Freeborn County events during November and December at Albert Lea City Hall.

The next meeting will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 21 in room 465 in the lower level of Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea. The competition category will be open. Sime will present a program on snow photography at the meeting.

The club meets on the third Thursday of the month, September through May.
