Star class: Getting a taste of learning at Sibley

Third grade students at Sibley Elementary School  have been working on sequencing any and everything they can get their hands on, according to a press release.

For the past month they have been tasked with recognizing and understanding sequence and/or patterns, whether it is in math WIN time — where they compared and sequenced numbers, social studies chronologically ordering dates in history, or writing their own directions for an activity of their choice during ELA time. The students have had full cross curricular exposure and are loving it. Some of the other activities have included reading and writing code for robots, creating personal timelines of their lives, identifying key words in short texts, designing graphic organizers from text they have read and many more. Teacher Clay Scott said their next and final plan for this unit is to have students reading and researching different family friendly recipes to create a cookbook. When all of the students have completed the project, each student will get to take home their own copy of the cookbook, which has recipes from every student in the grade.
