Ever wanted to get involved with local government but don’t want to run for office?

It’s the time of year where city leaders are encouraging residents to get involved with the city’s boards and commissions.

Most of the boards meet monthly, though some meet less often.

According to the city, next year there will be openings on the following boards and commissions:

• Parks and Recreation Advisory Board, one position

• Planning Commission, two to three positions

• Airport Advisory Board, one position

• Board of Zoning Appeals, one position

Terms are for three years, with exception of the Board of Zoning Appeals, which is a five-year term.

People interested in being a part of one of these boards can stop in to the City Manager’s Office at City Hall, 221 E. Clark St., to fill out an application and receive more information about when the boards meet.

Get involved and be a part of moving the city forward.
