Letter: Letter had many inaccuracies

Published 8:18 pm Friday, December 6, 2019

Marlin Johnson’s latest letter is full of mistruths to the point it is sad that someone would attempt to mislead others this badly.

Zelensky, the president of Ukraine, is in a bad spot. He is attempting to kiss Trump’s butt as not to lose more aid and furthermore attempting to get Russia to return the territory it seized from Ukraine in 2014. Putin, one of Trump’s best friends, is clearly putting pressure on him to let Ukraine fail as much as possible. Putin is a dangerous person and cannot be trusted.

Trump will blame everyone but the real people involved in the 2016 election. It is obvious Russia interfered with the elections and will continue to interfere. Here in Minnesota, the Republicans dragged their feet so that Secretary of State Steve Simon couldn’t get the money to start the process to protect our elections earlier.

Johnson claims we have 30 million illegal aliens in the United States. Well I don’t know about that as I haven’t sighted any yet. I do know according to Homeland Security we have roughly 11 million undocumented immigrants in the United States.

It is a mess at the border, I agree. Making threats and treating people like animals is not the answer, however. Many Republicans agree that something should be worked out and can be. Trump refuses to listen to people in the know.  Therefore the issue gets compounded and messier. Part of the problem is that we live in a country where white supremacists are getting more power.

Health care proposals will not cost $30 trillion dollars.  This is one of those false stories that has been circulated by the right wing to the point that people believe it.

Socialism, by the way, is preventing your opponent from getting on the ballot. So far, eight states have prevented anyone from running against Trump on the ballot this coming primary. This is what you call a step in the direction of communism.

Ninety-eight percent of scientists in the United States believe we have a serious climate problem. Johnson, like Trump, refuses to read the reports coming from those people stating the issues that we are facing. Republicans believe in profits over environment as stated out loud at the 2016 state meeting. Chemicals, to them, have a right to be dumped into our waters.

I don’t support abortion as a whole, but I’m not going to tell someone what not to do. This is a personal decision. I also don’t support rapists being given rights for custodial visits, etc. Many Republicans have gotten abortions.  Protected by HIPPA as to exposure.

President Trump was elected to lead. Instead he is dividing our country. He calls people names, probably lies more than all the past presidents put together and doesn’t pay his bills. Don’t forget he still hasn’t paid his bills for his last visit to Minneapolis. Trump calls this being smart in business. He is a bully and yet the Republican base doesn’t speak out despite all his wrong doings. Cowards.
