Memorial services for Phyllis Hamberg, 92, of Albert Lea, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at First Presbyterian Church, 308 Water St. in Albert Lea. The Rev. Dwight Netzer will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Lutheran Cemetery in the spring. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church Thursday. Online condolences are welcome at www.bayviewfuneral.com.
Phyllis L. Hamberg passed away Saturday, Dec. 7, 2019, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community.
Phyllis was born March 10, 1927, in St. Paul to Ralph and Marie (Caldwell) Parks. She graduated from Albert Lea High School.
She married Archie E. Hamberg on July 22, 1945, at First Presbyterian Church in Albert Lea. Together they raised their 11 children. She worked at Cafe Don’l for many years.
In her retirement, Phyllis and Archie liked to travel. They visited many of the states. In her free time, Phyllis enjoyed reading, baking, walking and going to Dairy Queen for ice cream. She was also a big fan of Shirley Temple; having read all of the books, watched all the movies, and collected all of the dolls. Most of all, she loved to spend time with family and friends.
Phyllis is survived by her children Susan (Hardy) Hyatt, John (Kathy), Sharon (Dick) Rasmussen, Darlene (Don) Rislov, Michael (Mary), Judy (Ron) Hansen, Steven (Holly), Tom (Cindy), Bill (Abbey) and Pat (Bruce) Busall; 30 grandchildren; multiple great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; daughters-in-law Christine and Penny Hamberg; brothers-in-law Don Hamberg and Al Haggen; nieces and nephews; many great-nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie; parents Ralph and Marie; infant son, David; son, Jerry; daughter-in-law, Jeanine; sisters-in-law Joanne Hagen and Sally Hamberg; brother-in-law, Gene (Betty) Hamberg.
