The Albert Lea wrestling team traveled to Mankato West on Friday for a triangular with Mankato West and Rochester Century.

While the Tigers had no trouble getting past the Cougars, winning 64-18, it was a different story against the Scarlets, as the Tigers dropped the dual 46-26.

Against Century, Albert Lea rattled off nine straight wins to start the dual. Seventh grader Nick Korman got things started with a forfeit win at 106 pounds. Freshman Aiven Wasmoen also won via forfeit at 113 pounds.

Senior Bradley Prestegard won in a second-period pinfall at 120 pounds and was followed by three-straight forfeit wins: freshman Kris Cox at 126 pounds, sophomore Carter Miller at 132 pounds and sophomore Cameron Davis at 138 pounds.

Freshman Cole Glazier got a quick first-period fall at 145 pounds and junior Caleb Talamantes had the only match of the dual that was not decided by a forfeit or pinfall, with a 12-4 major decision win at 152 pounds.

Freshman Henry Eggum dropped his match at 160 pounds via a fall in the first period, but back-to-back forfeit wins from sophomore Colin Madson and freshman Kadin Indrelie at 170 and 182 pounds, respectively, kept the Tigers well above the Cougars.

Century notched two pinfalls at the 195 and 220 weight classes. Sophomore Carter Harmdierks fell in the second period at 195 pounds and sophomore Adam Semple fell in the first round at 220 pounds. Junior Trevor Ball picked up a forfeit win at 285 pounds.

In the second dual of the night, the Tigers and Scarlets traded wins in the opening two matches. Korman fell in a tight 5-3 overtime match before Wasmoen got the Tigers on the board with a 15-0 tech fall.

Mankato West then went on a three-match win streak to pull ahead of Albert Lea 18-5. Prestegard dropped a close 4-2 decision, while Cox and Miller both fell victim to second-period falls.

The Tigers stormed back with a four-match streak when Davis, Glazier and Talamantes notched pinfalls and Eggum got a high-scoring 16-10 decision win.

Up 26-18, Albert Lea dropped the final five matches of the dual and lost by 20 points. Madson, Semple, Harmdierks and Ball all lost via pinfalls and Indrelie lost by a 16-5 major decision.

The Tigers move to 5-5 on the season and have just two weeks remaining before the start of sections. They will be back on the mat Thursday when they host the Winhawks of Winona.
