Brian J. Lestrud, 47, of Hayward passed away peacefully in his sleep Friday, Jan. 10, 2020, at his home.

Brian was born Sept. 14, 1972, in Waseca to Harvey and Linda Lestrud. Brian was a long-time resident of southern Minnesota. He was an expert commercial roofer that worked for Merit, Allweather and, for the last nine years, Weitzel Roofing. Brian’s passion was fishing, his motorcycle and his lawnmower, and he loved spending time with his mother, Linda, and dog, Bear.

Survivors include his mother, Linda Lestrud, of Austin; and siblings Cindy (Bobby) Kilby of Austin, Justin (Michelle) Lestrud of Albert Lea, Don (Bobbe) Lestrud of Kansas City and Kim Erickson of Northwood.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harvey Lestrud; one brother, Michael Lestrud; grandparents Harvey and Clara Lestrud and Shirley Montgomery; cousin, Jason Luoma; and nephew, Steven Nielsen.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Worlein Funeral Home chapel in Austin. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at Geneva Cemetery in Geneva at a later date. Memorials are preferred to the family. Worlein Funeral Home of Austin is assisting the family with arrangements.
