Lester Hobart Salisbury died Sunday, Jan. 12, 2020, at Koda Senior Living Center in Owatonna.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service Friday. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. Mary Iverson officiating. Burial will be in Rosehill Cemetery in Wells with full military honors by the Wells color guard. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Lester was born Oct. 24, 1932, in Heron Lake to Hobart and Elvira (Waldron) Salisbury. Lester joined the Air Force and served from April 1951 to April of 1955. He was stationed in Alaska and worked as an airplane mechanic.  Lester married Yvonne Frisk on April 1, 1956, in Anaheim, California. Lester was a master mechanic at the food processing plant in Wells and ended his working career at Stokley Canning. After retirement, Lester worked part time at Prestress as an escort and parts delivery for 12 years. Lester was a leader for the Boy Scouts. He was an active member of his church, Good Shepherd Lutheran, where he was an usher. He served on the Rosehill Cemetery board. Lester was also a member of the Wells American Legion and Wells veterans of Foreign Wars.

Lester is survived by his wife of 63 years, Yvonne, of Owatonna; children Kevin (Bea) Salisbury of Winona, David Salisbury of Kansas City, Missouri, Craig (Karen) Salisbury of Lanesville, Indiana, and Jodie Salisbury of Owatonna; grandchildren Amanda (Jeff) Weifenbach of Winona, Rachel Vogel of Tybee Island, Georgia, Leah (Nick) Schmitz of Eden Valley, Megan Salisbury of Lanesville, Indiana, Shannon (Dylan) Bakken of Spicer, Brianne Salisbury of Lanesville, Indina, Dylan Salisbury of St. Peter and Cole Salisbury of St. Peter; great-grandchildren Kirsten Weifenbach of Brookings, South Dakota, and Payton Weifenbach of Winona; brother, Bert (Joyce) Salisbury, of Albert Lea; sisters-in-law Mary Lou Salisbury of Anaheim and Marlyce (Denny) Kalmes of Rosemount; and many nieces and nephews.

Lester is preceded in death by his parents Hobart and Elvira Salisbury; son, Gary Salisbury; brothers Rolland and Dean Salisbury; and three sisters, one in infancy, Genevieve Duinkerkin and Virginia Smith.
