5 things to do this weekend

1. Mardis Gras

The Albert Lea Art Center will host a Mardi Gras celebration from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Friday in partnership with the Freeborn County Historical Museum. All proceeds from the event will benefit the collaborating organizations. The

festivities will include Cajun food, dixieland music, beer and wine. There will also be a silent auction of painted mannequins. Tickets are $25 per person and may be purchased at The Albert Lea Art Center or the Freeborn County Historical Museum. Mardi Gras attire and masks are optional.

2. Outdoor Rock on Ice

Rock on Ice is a free event set to take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Hayek Park. The outdoor event will include music by DJ Abrego, fire, hot cocoa and plenty of fun-filled activities.

 

3. Community theater

“Irena’s Vow,” a play set during World War II that tells the true story of a housekeeper who helps shelter 12 Jewish workers during the German occupation, will continue this weekend. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center. The price for admission is $15 for adults and $10 for students. Tickets may be purchased by calling 1-877-730-3144 or by visiting actonbroadway.com.

 

4. February craft and vendor show

A craft and vendor show will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at Northbridge Mall. The event will feature a wide variety of goodies for everyone.

 

5. Soup and pie supper

All proceeds from the Emmons firefighters and first responders soup and pie supper will contribute to training and equipment. The event will take place from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Emmons Lutheran Church in the social hall.
