Albert Lea Community Theatre announced auditions will be at 7 p.m. March 2 and 3 for the comedy “Doublewide, Texas” at Marion Ross Performing Arts Center, 147 N. Broadway in Albert Lea, according to a press release.
Written by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and Jamie Wooten — the playwrights of the award-winning “Dixie Swim Club” — in the fast-paced comedy, the inhabitants of one of the smallest trailer parks in Texas are thrown for a loop when they realize the nearby town of Tugaloo is determined to annex them. The mayhem of the comedy escalates as the residents attempt to secede from Texas. The press release encouraged people to grab their Stetson and come on over to Doublewide, Texas, where the life is double the fun, double the joy and the audiences double over with laughter.
Directed by Brian Mattson, eight performances of this play are scheduled for April 23 through May 2. There are roles for six women and three men of various ages for the play. There are no roles for children. Those auditioning should be prepared to read from the script. Rehearsals will be scheduled weeknights, with some weekend involvement closer to the performance dates.
Tickets and more information regarding auditions are at actonbroadway.com.
