Doris Lindquist, 1935-2020

Funeral services for Doris A. Lindquist of Albert Lea, formerly of the Sioux City, Iowa, area, will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Bonnerup Funeral Service in Albert Lea. The Rev. Kurt Farrell will officiate. Interment will be in Red Oak Grove Cemetery in rural Austin. Friends may visit with family one hour before services at the funeral home.

Doris died on her 85th birthday, Thursday, Jan. 30, 2020, at Thorne Crest Senior Living Community in Albert Lea.

She was born Jan. 30, 1935, in Attleboro, Massachusetts, the daughter of Joseph and Bessie (Welch) Gariepy.

She graduated from high school and then met and married Dean E. Lindquist, who was serving in the U.S. Navy. This union was blessed with a daughter, Gayle. At the age of 39, Doris returned to school and obtained her licensed practical nurse certificate.

She enjoyed many years of nursing, working for nursing homes, Hospice and Home Health in the Sioux City area. They retired to Albert Lea in 1998.

She found much joy in spending time with family, reading and fishing on Lake Vermillion.

Doris will be lovingly missed by her husband, Dean; her daughter, Gayle (Jim), of Clive, Iowa; granddaughter, Gillian (Erik) Rauglas, and their daughters Genevieve and Adeleine of Clovis, New Mexico; sisters-in-law Dorothy Johnson of Milford, Iowa, Eileen Lindquist of Blooming Prairie and Evie Lindquist of Stewartville; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Betty Smulligan and Mary Donnelly; and brother, Joe Gariepy.

Doris will be remembered for her strong faith and her amazing and resilient spirit.
