Letter: Letter was disappointing

Recently, Mavis Jacobs gave us her views regarding judges taking away our rights, harming children, shutting down charities and so forth. Simply put, I’m disappointed.

A few comments in reflection to her comments.

In an appearance on “Fox & Friends” on Thursday, Feb. 6, guest Christopher Harris stated, “Listen, I would argue that it’s been probably three of the greatest years since maybe Jesus walked the Earth with his ministry,” regarding Trump’s actions recently. Trump’s behavior clearly isn’t Christlike, as anyone with common sense realizes.

At the Feb. 5 prayer breakfast that President Trump attended, along with many Democrats and Republicans, Arthur Brooks was the feature speaker on the theme “Love your Enemies.” Trump kept his hand down when the audience was asked if they love anyone who disagrees with them politically. He is a bully.

Trump followed Brooks and immediately started blasting just about everyone in sight who opposed him at this unity prayer service.

He blasted GOPer Mitt Romney for making a decision during the impeachment process base on his faith. Romney gave an excellent and what I would call a very presidential speech on the Senate floor why he was voting to impeach Trump. Trump then used his speech to reject basic Christian fundamentals. Clearly not Christlike.

Currently, his GOP pawns in the U.S. Senate has moved to install federal judges who do not like the Voting Rights Act (1965 law) that struck down the process that kept African-Americans from the ballot box. I think he clearly is a racist and has no regards to Christianity.

Trump is currently making changes to Social Security for those on disability. He has mocked disabilities from the podium so no surprise there.  Trump again is not Christlike.

Trump has made it clear he is above the law all the while he has lied over 16,000 times in his three years in office.  Christlike? Most recently one of his more outlandish lies was claiming there were no injuries in the attack by Iran, where at least 100 troops suffered serious head injuries.  He doesn’t care about the welfare of our troops.

We say that we’re a nation under God, according to the pledge, but where is our action in our faith?

We also say in the pledge to the flag, “with liberty and justice for all.” Do we really give liberty and justice for all? Absolutely not.

Jacobs clearly is hung up on the gay community. I personally have many friends who are gay, and they are great people.  They express their Christian faith in a more positive way than many so-called Christians who attend weekly Bible studies. Let’s be careful who to judge.

Mavis Jacobs talks about beautiful buildings and wonderful words. Yet, where is the true faith as to what God is trying to tell us? Remember, many books were not included in the Bible by “human” man. Let’s not get narrow-minded and toss aside the mysteries of our faith. In addition, don’t be so quick to judge everyone base on your lifelong thoughts.
