The National Weather Service is forecasting another round of winter weather this weekend that could bring heavy snow to the Albert Lea area.

A band of snow is expected to move in from west to east late Saturday night into Sunday across southern Minnesota into Wisconsin, the Weather Service stated.

Southern Minnesota appears likely to receive 4 to 6 inches, and there could be a narrow band about two counties wide that could receive more than 6 inches, though the Weather Service cannot yet say for sure where that will be.

The snow will likely impact travel late Saturday night into Sunday, with the heaviest snow taking place Sunday morning.

Winds are expected to be light during the storm system — less than 25 mph.

The Weather Service stated with the system still a few days away, the forecast could likely change.
