The National Weather service has the area under a wind chill advisory from midnight tonight through 10 a.m. Thursday as wind chills of negative 25 to negative 35 degrees are forecasted.

Albert Lea Area Schools, Lake Mills Schools, Northwood-Kensett Schools, Hollandale Christian School, Alden-Conger School, Glenville-Emmons School, St. Theodore Catholic School and United Preschool will be closed Thursday. NRHEG Schools and United South Central Public Schools will be delayed two hours, and all Riverland Community College campuses will start classes and activities at 10 a.m. Thursday.

A blizzard warning remains in effect for portions of west central and southwest Minnesota through the afternoon, the Weather Service stated. A winter weather advisory continues east of the blizzard warning for blowing snow and possible near-blizzard conditions at times, as well as the potential for flash freezing roadways and surfaces as temperatures plummet behind an Arctic front.
