An Albert Lea man was injured Tuesday night after his vehicle crashed into another at the intersection of Minnesota Highway 13 and U.S. Highway 69.
Jacob Ward Helmers, 40, was taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea for injuries deemed not life-threatening, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
The State Patrol report said Helmers was driving a 2007 Toyota Prius eastbound on Freeborn County Road 46 when he turned southbound toward Highway 69 and collided with a 2013 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Erika Jazmin Islas, 22, of Lake Mills that was traveling southbound on Highway 69.
Islas was not injured.
Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, and alcohol was not a factor.
The State Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Freeborn County Sheriff’s Office, Albert Lea Police Department and Mayo Clinic Ambulance.
