The LIFE Center of Freeborn County has canceled all activities for the remainder of this month, according to a press release. Events will be rescheduled for next month and payments will be added to member accounts.

Special Olympics has their own set of cancellation guidelines that the organization will follow with track and field events.

“Due to recent developments tied to the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the heightened risks for people with intellectual disabilities and the elderly, Special Olympics Minnesota is suspending all sport training, practices and competition activities, Polar Plunges and other events involving our athletes beginning now through April 5,” the organization stated in the release. “This date is fluid and may be extended based on new developments. We will be monitoring the situation closely and posting any updates at somn.org/covid19. This decision was made carefully based on new developments and advice from Special Olympics International and their consultation with the Centers for Disease Control and the World Health Organization.”

The LIFE office will be open to take calls, but is asking people call before they stop in and be aware that office hours could change. Changes will be posted on its Facebook page.

The center will create a call list and make regular check-in calls to its members. Those who would like to be added to this list or know of someone that should be, can contact the LIFE Center at 507-377-3469 or message its Facebook page.
