Charles W. Troe, 86, passed away Friday, April 3, 2020, at MercyOne Medical Center North Iowa in Mason City.

In accordance with the CDC recommendations, a private family memorial service will take place at Oaklawn Cemetery in Emmons.

Charles Wayne Troe of Lake Mills was born Nov. 8, 1933, in Emmons to Alvin and Cora Troe. He graduated from Emmons High School in 1951 and was united in marriage to Lorna Mae Gavle on Aug. 26, 1951, at Lunder Lutheran Church.

Charlie enjoyed playing bridge, all card games, cribbage, puzzles, reading, golfing, bowling, going to movies, casino trips, vacationing and riding his bike many, many miles.

He loved sports and especially the Minnesota Twins and the Minnesota Vikings. You could always find him watching sports on TV.

Charlie was very active in the Emmons community throughout his life, including as a member of Emmons Lutheran Church, church council, volunteer fire department, bank board member, school board member and co-owner of the Arrowhead golf and country club. He was also in the oil business (TEXACO) for many years.

Charlie and Lorna loved spending their winters in Texas. He was also very proud of his four daughters.
He was blessed with 63 years of marriage to his loving wife, Lorna.

He is survived by their four daughters, Kathy (Richard) Wirt, Julie (Don) Yost, Sandy (Alan Wittmer) Lee and Audrey (Terry) Peterson; grandchildren Tony (Erin) Wirt, Kelly (Mark) Hickman, Devin (Paige) Yost, Brett ( Kristen) Peterson, Charlie (Christie) Peterson, Lauren (Mike) Lien and Dani (Zach) Ulrich; great-grandchildren Claire and Paige Wirt, Arthur and Gus Hickman, Mabel Yost, Mara, Joseph and Eddie Peterson, and Charlotte and Claire Peterson; special family friend, Pam Stead; brother, Ron (Carol) Troe; sister-in-law, Lorraine Nagel; and many nieces and nephews.
Charlie was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lorna, and brother, Dale.
