Christine “Chris” M. Bouwman, 44, of Albert Lea died suddenly Sunday, April 12, 2020, at her home.

Christine Marie Bouwman was born July 15, 1975, in Willmar, the daughter of Kenneth and Dorothy (Honken) Bouwman. She graduated from Owatonna High School in 1993. Chris worked as a general manager for Perkins in the Twin Cities area for several years. She was working as an apartment complex manager in Albert Lea. 

Chris had a love for all animals. She enjoyed being outdoors, camping and visiting state parks. She was known for being caring, thoughtful, generous and loyal. Chris enjoyed spending time with her family.

Chris is survived by her fiance, Jared Leonard, and daughter, MaKenzie Leonard, both of Albert Lea; parents Ken Bouwman of Granite Falls and Dorothy Bouwman of Owatonna; sister, Brenda (Ron) Hager, of Owatonna; brother, Daryl Bouwman, of Owatonna; nieces and nephews Jennifer (Dylan Radel) Hager, Cody (Jamie) Hager, Cassandra and Jessica Hager, Amara Bouwman, Alixxandra and Aryanna Purdie-Bouwman and Jonathan Bouwman; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents John and Janette Bouwman; maternal grandparents Herman and Sarah Honken; niece, Kristin Wrobleski; great-niece, Audriannah Brown; and two aunts and one uncle.

A private family graveside service will be at Forest Hill Cemetery in Owatonna. Arrangements are with Michaelson Funeral Home in Owatonna.
