Confirmed cases still rising in south-central Minnesota

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 continued to rise Saturday across south-central Minnesota.
According to the Minnesota Department of Health, there are now 10 positive cases of the virus in Freeborn County, up from seven cases reported on Friday.
Confirmed COVID-19 cases across Minnesota increased Saturday to 865. More than half of those patients no longer need to be isolated.
Information about the new cases has not yet been released.
Cases also increased to 17 in Mower County and eight in Steele County, according to the state department.
Confirmed cases across the state increased to 864. Of that number, 24 people have died, and 95 people are hospitalized, including 42 in intensive care.
The department included a list of outbreaks at long-term care facilities by county across the state, which it defined as one or more residents or staff with laboratory-confirmed COVID-19. The list included Fountain Centers at Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea.
The Department of Health stated 25,423 tests have been completed in Minnesota, including 8,738 through the Department of Health’s public health lab and 16,685 from external laboratories.
Numbers include data through 4 p.m. Friday. Not all suspected cases of COVID-19 are tested, so this data is not representative of the total number of people in Minnesota who have or had COVID-19.
