The city of Albert Lea transfer station will resume operation for limited items Saturday through April 25, according to a press release. The city will accept brush and yard waste only. These two items will be free of charge for this period. Residents who do not have a 2020 compost permit will still be allowed to dispose of yard waste and brush. After the COVID-19 lockdown is lifted and normal operations resume, a 2020 compost permit will be required. No other services — including demolition materials, refuse, oil disposal or recycling — will be accepted at this time.
Social distancing will be required at all times while at the transfer station.
The city transfer station hours starting Saturday until April 25 are 3 to 7 p.m. Monday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. It is closed Sunday and Thursday.
