The Minnesota Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services Division has determined that as of Monday, Deputy Registrar offices now offer motor vehicle title and registration services in accordance with Executive Order 20-20, according to a press release. All over the counter, face-to-face services continue to be prohibited.
However, Freeborn County DVS will offer drop box services or mailed in paperwork for tab renewals and limited title work effective Monday as well.
Call the License Center at 507-377-5126 or 507-377-5127 for inquiries as to services. Due to limited staff, the center may not be able to answer phone calls immediately. People are asked to leave a message and their call will be returned, the release stated.
Gov. Tim Walz signed a bill into law March 28 that provides an extension for Minnesotans whose valid driver’s licenses or ID cards expire during the peacetime emergency. The expiration is extended to two months after the month the peacetime emergency ends.
