1 injured in Albert Lea shooting

A 21-year-old man was shot multiple times Saturday afternoon on Gene Avenue in Albert Lea.
The man was taken by Mayo Ambulance to Mayo Clinic Health System in Albert Lea and was later taken to St. Marys Hospital in Rochester, according to a press release. Police stated he was in stable condition as of 5:40 p.m.
Police were notified of the shooting at 3:41 p.m. on the 1200 block of Gene Avenue, the release stated. Officers rendered first aid to the the man at the scene.
The suspects reportedly fled in a vehicle prior to officers arriving on scene and are believed to be known to the victim.
Police stated the case remains open and is actively being investigated. It is believed to be an isolated incident, and police do not believe there is an ongoing threat to public safety.
