Good Samaritan Society has COVID-19 exposure
Ten people have now been hospitalized because of COVID-19 in Freeborn County at some point during their illness, according to the Freeborn County Public Health Department. Of that number, four currently remain hospitalized.
The county saw six new lab-confirmed cases on Friday, bringing the county’s total to 108 cases.
The new cases included one person under 10, three people in their 30s, one person in their 50s and one person in their 70s, the county department stated.
The Minnesota Department of Health listed Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea as one of the congregate care facilities that has now had exposures, but it is unclear how many people may have been impacted. The department defines exposure as a person diagnosed with COVID-19 who either visited, worked or lived at a congregate care facility while they were contagious.
The county public health department stated 74 of the county’s cases are out of isolation and recovering from their illness.
Around the area, Faribault County had two new cases, pushing its total to 15, and Mower County had 23 new cases, increasing its total to 254 cases.
Steele County saw two new cases and has now had 151 cases, and Waseca County had one new case, increasing its total to 26.
Statewide, there were 590 new cases reported, increasing the state’s total positive cases to 23,531.
Twenty-nine new deaths were reported from Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Itasca, Nicollet, Nobles, Ramsey, Stearns and Washington counties. That increased the total across the state to 996, of which 811 resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities.
The department said 592 are currently hospitalized, including 259 in intensive care.
Across the state, 233,873 COVID-19 tests have been completed, including 23,165 through the state public health lab and 210,708 through external laboratories.
