Daily COVID-19 update: No new cases in Faribault, Freeborn, Waseca counties

No new COVID-19 cases were reported in Faribault, Freeborn or Waseca counties on Wednesday in the daily Minnesota Department of Health update.

Mower County had 10 new cases, pushing its total cases to 216. Steele County had four new cases and now has had 148.

Statewide, total cases increased by 510 to 22,464, with 33 newly reported deaths. The new deaths were reported in Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Nicollet, Nobles, Ramsey and Washington counties.

The new death oral is 932, with 759 of those deaths among residents who resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities.

The Department of Health stated 598 people are hospitalized as of today, including 260 in intensive care.

Hennepin County has the largest number of cases with 7,540 and 565 deaths. The next highest are in Ramsey County with 2,610 cases and Stearns County with 1,984 cases.

The department stated 216,532 cases have been conducted, including 22,259 through the state public health lab and 194,273 through external laboratories.
