Darwin D. “Dar” of Glenville passed away peacefully at the age of 88 at the VA Hospital in Minneapolis on May 21,2020 of natural causes.
Dar was born on April 16, 1932 to Howard and Verna (Suhr) Claussen in Rock County, Minnesota. He married Betty Flaskerud on June 29, 1952 at Round Prairie Lutheran Church where he was currently a member. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954 and was honorably discharged. He was self employed doing heavy construction for over 50 years. He then worked as the road maintenance person for Albert Lea Township.
Dar enjoyed racing stock cars, raising cattle, watching his kids and grandkids show livestock and attending their sporting activities, as well as hunting, fishing, and riding snowmobile.
Dar is survived by his children: Bonnie (Alan) Bakken of Albert Lea and children Andrew (Jody) of Albert Lea, Amber (Jamie) Jensen of Albert Lea. David (Dawn) Claussen of Glenville and children Jessica (Matt) Webb of Glenville, Caleb of Maryland, Jordan (Matt) Nelson of Lanesboro, MN. Don (Donna) Claussen of Braidwood, IL and children Chris, Jeremiah and Thaddeus. Brian (Fiancé Shelly) of Rockwell, IA and children Nikki, Christa and Brooke. Brother Dell (June) Claussen of Albert Lea; Sister-in-law Gretchen Claussen of Alden; Brother-in-law Gene (Ruth) Flaskerud of Hayward, MN; Sister-in-law Rosemary Flaskerud of Albert Lea; 20 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews; and special friend Beverly Twito.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Betty; his parents Howard and Verna; parents-in-law Willie and Lillian Flaskerud; brothers Dick and Forrest; brother-in-law Lloyd Flaskerud; and 4 nephews.
He was grandpa Dar to more than just his own grandchildren.
