Organization: STARS community mentoring
Project: operational support, group events
Report: Success Through Adults Reaching Students (STARS) is a nonprofit mentoring program in Freeborn County and the eastern part of Faribault County. The program is dedicated to providing adult members to youth who are in need of guidance or support. Mentors support youth by being their friend and building a relationship of trust.
The funding will help with operational support to increase the number of children served and provide ongoing support to the existing mentoring relationships.
Group events are also sponsored through the funding. For the 2018-19 school year, STARS planned 10 group events with one cancellation.
“Meaningful connections between the mentors and mentees with positive outcomes have been enhanced in our community with this ongoing program,” a STARS press release stated. “If you want more information or to get in touch with us, feel free to contact us at our website, Starsforkids.org or our Facebook page, Stars for Kids, or email, Starsforkids@yahoo.com.”
