Area counties see new COVID-19 cases

All of the counties in the area reported at least one new COVID-19 case on Thursday, according to the Minnesota Department of Health’s daily update.

Freeborn County reported five new cases and has now had 240 since the start of the pandemic, the Freeborn County Public Health Department stated.
Of those five new cases, four people are in their 30s and one is in their 60s.
Two people are hospitalized, and 189 people are out of isolation.
Mower County reported 11 new cases and has now had 744 cases.
Faribault and Steele counties each reported two new cases, and Waseca reported one.
Statewide, 387 new cases were reported, increasing the state’s total cumulative cases to 31,675.
Of those cases, 27,566 no longer need to be in isolation, and 345 are hospitalized, including 171 in intensive care.
Nineteen new deaths were reported in Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Nicollet, Olmsted, Ramsey, Rice and Sherburne counties. Included in the number was one person in their 30s with no underlying conditions from Hennepin County and one person in their 50s from Rice County. Thirteen of the new deaths were residents who resided in long-term care or assisted living facilities.
The state’s total death count from COVID-19 is at 1,344.
