Daily COVID-19 update: Area counties report new cases; hospitalizations dip below 300 statewide

Ten new COVID-19 cases were reported in Freeborn County on Sunday, increasing the county’s total cumulative cases to 280, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
The Freeborn County Public Health Department said the new cases included two people under 10, three people between 10 and 20, one person in their 20s, two people in their 40s and two people in their 50s.
The county has had 21 people hospitalized at some point during their illness, and four remain hospitalized today.
Of the county’s total cases, 249 are out of isolation.
The Minnesota Department of Health stated 16 new cases were reported in Mower County, increasing that county’s total to 910.
Three new cases was reported in Faribault, increasing its total to 48, and three new cases were reported in Waseca County, increasing its total to 55. No new cases were reported in Steele County.
Across the state, 523 new cases were reported, increasing the state’s cumulative positive cases to 35,549.
Of those cases, 30,809 are no longer in isolation and 288 are hospitalized, including 143 in intensive care.
Eight new deaths were reported in Anoka, Crow Wing, Dakota, Hennepin, Koochiching and Pipestone counties, and six of the new deaths were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
The state’s total death count tied to COVID-19 is 1,425.
