Regarding the Tribune’s June 6 article “2 candidates vie for DFL 27A nomination”:
Abraham Lincoln said, “I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts.”
When I read the article about running for the 27A seat, I was very disappointed to see my opponent say I had “circumnavigate(d) the delegate system and rescind(ed) his pledge to abide by the results” (of the local delegate vote). When I went to the caucus, I announced my candidacy, gave my two-minute speech, hung around and visited with people and left. I’m not sure where Mr. Martinez got the idea I agreed to abide by the results. I did not tell Mr. Martinez that, I did not sign any paper to that effect and no one spoke to me about the issue. I’m not exactly sure what Mr. Martinez is talking about. I also checked with local and state DFL contacts and there were no commitments asked. Neither of our last two governors, Governor Dayton or Governor Walz were endorsed by DFL caucus vote.
I am committed to continue promoting exemplar public education to provide all Minnesota students a top-notch education as well as pushing for the infrastructure and health services needed for our area.
At this time I am unable to continue my campaign. I wish Mr. Martinez all the best.
