Daily COVID-19 update: 519 new cases reported statewide; local counties report new cases

The Minnesota Department of Health reported 519 new lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state on Sunday, including counts from the last two days.

The new cases increase the state’s positive cumulative cases to 38,136, according to the department.

Five new deaths were reported from Anoka, Hennepin, Pipestone and Ramsey counties, all of whom were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.

The state has now had 1,471 COVID-19 deaths, including 1,155 whom were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities. Around the state, 253 people are hospitalized as of today, including 132 in intensive care.

Of Minnesota’s total cases, 33,408  cases no longer are in isolation.

Locally, Freeborn County reported two new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, increasing its cumulative count to 292.

Mower County had six new cases, pushing its total to 951; Faribault County had two new cases, increasing its total to 56; Steele County had three, increasing its total to 231; and Waseca had four, increasing its total to 68.
