Daily COVID-19 update: No new cases reported in most area counties

Mower County had the area’s only new lab-confirmed COVID-19 case reported on Monday, according to the Minnesota Department of Health.
No new cases were reported in Faribault, Freeborn, Steele or Waseca counties.
The Freeborn County Public Health Department stated four people from the county remain hospitalized, and there are 15 active cases remaining in Freeborn County out of the total cumulative 292 cases.
Statewide, there were 434 newly reported cases, increasing the state’s total positive cases to 38,569. Of that number, 33,907 no longer are in isolation.
The department stated three new deaths were reported in Dakota, Hennepin and Ramsey counties, one of whom was a resident of a long-term care or assisted living facility. The state’s total cumulative deaths is 1,474, of which 1,156 were residents of long-term care or assisted living facilities.
Across the state, 258 people are hospitalized because of COVID-19, including 125 in intensive care.
