Fireworks scheduled in Northwood, Scarville

For residents looking to enjoy some fireworks and other festivities on the Fourth of July, Northwood is having a smaller scale version of its typical holiday festivities.

According to the Northwood Area Chamber of Commerce website, a softball tournament is slated to kick off at 8 a.m. Saturday in Swensrud Park, and a parade is scheduled at 11 a.m.

After the parade at the Worth County Fairgrounds, there will be Signature’s, Hot Beef Sundae, Mr. Taco and Mini Donuts of Northwood. Restaurants will also be open on Central Avenue.

At 1 p.m., there will be a horseshoe tournament in Swensrud Park, and at 5 p.m. volleyball and beanbag tournaments are slated at Strike Zone.

The fireworks display is scheduled for 10 p.m.

On Sunday, there will be a three-point, free throw and dunk contest at 1 p.m. for children going into fourth through 12th grades in the fall. Pre-registration was required by July 1 by calling Joe Fierova at 641-390-0423.

A fireworks display is slated to take place at 9:45 p.m. Saturday in Scarville, organized by R Bar.

Also scheduled are a volleyball tournament and a corn hole tournament at noon at the bar.
