6 to 10 inches of snow possible for Albert Lea in upcoming storm

Moderate to heavy snow is likely across the area late Thursday through Friday evening. 

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather warning from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday for Waseca, Faribault and Freeborn counties.

The weather agency states 6 to 10 inches of snow are possible.

The snow is expected to develop late Thursday across western Minnesota. The snow will spread southeast through early Friday morning with snowfall rates around an inch per hour possible at times.

The snow will end from north to south late Friday afternoon and early Friday evening.

The Weather Service advises people to take proper precautions while driving, as travel will be impacted by the system, especially during the Friday evening commute. 

Snow could lead to slippery road conditions and reduced visibility. 

People should slow down and allow for extra time to reach their destination.
