Lori (Wrolson) Singewald won the title of 2024 Ms. American Victory and Melissa (Tukua) Oates won the title of 2024 Ms. American Woman earlier this fall. In addition to the crown and sash, the women earned cash awards, gifts from national sponsors, accommodations for upcoming trips with their fellow winners and the opportunity to travel the country representing the Miss American Coed organization.
During the final pageant, Singewald was also the recipient of the Erin Joy Award. Erin Joy Landis, remembered for her grace and bravery, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer, according to a press release. In honor of her legacy, her family has instituted an annual award in her memory. This recognition is awarded by pageant staff to a participant who exemplifies the same spirit and dedication that Landis demonstrated both on and off the stage.
The honoree is granted the privilege of selecting a charity to receive a donation in their name, continuing Landis’ legacy of kindness and community service. Singewald is proud to donate her award to the All-Inclusive Playground and Miracle Field in Albert Lea.
The Miss American Coed national competition is held annually where girls and women from all over the country compete in nine age divisions: Princess (3 to 6), Sweetheart (7 to 9), Pre-teen (10 to 12), Junior Teen (13-15), Teen (16 to 18), Coed (19 to 24), Ms. (25 to 34), Woman (35 to 44) and Classic Woman (45 and up). Contests are scored on a 30-second introductory speech about themselves, a one-on-one interview with each member of the judges panel, and their poise, confidence and composure during the eveningwear competition. Original competitions including Academic Achievement, Volunteer Service, Talent, Speech, Modeling, Actress and Photogenic are also available to all contestants.
This year, Miss American Coed celebrates 41 years of hosting competitions that recognize and reward women for their achievements and academic excellence. The organization strives to provide an environment that builds confidence and uses the fun of competition to teach life skills that propel them in their academic and professional goals.
