The Freeborn County Historical Museum, Library and Village annual meeting is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. Jan. 25. The meeting will begin with a social time, and the formal meeting beginning at 5 p.m. Light appetizers will be served. An RSVP is requested.
Members are invited to attend the annual meeting and get the inside scoop on the Freeborn County Historical Museum, Library and Village and the Itasca Rock Garden.
Attendees will learn of the triumphs and struggles faced in 2023; hear what is on the horizon for 2024; meet the staff and board members; and, have an opportunity to ask questions.
The museum has been collecting, preserving and sharing its county’s history with the public for 76 years. Did you know that less than 10% of the collection items are on exhibit at any one time? The remaining collection items still need proper storage and care in order to protect and share them with future generations. Staff will highlight some of the issues they are finding in their collections, showcase proper storage and offer attendees an opportunity to adopt an artifact in the collection.
When you adopt an artifact you are helping the museum preserve its collection. Your tax-deductible donation to the Adopt an Artifact program will support the restoration and storage of an artifact of your choosing and preserve its historical significance, or will go into general support for the collection items.
Adopting an artifact is a unique way to get involved with the museum’s collection and help provide the support needed to continue to collect and preserve the history of Freeborn County.
