Parents of students in Minnesota: In 2023, a law was passed by Democrats and signed by Gov. Walz that directs the Minnesota Department of Education to issue “liberated ethnic studies requirements in all public and charter schools.” Approved in January, it requires first graders to identify examples of ethnicity, equality and systems of power and use those examples to construct meanings for those terms. It goes on to cover grades K-12 with further requirements for all grades. Ms. Katherine Kersten, a senior policy fellow at the Center of the American Experiment, had an article in the Aug. 22, 2024, of the Wall Street Journal, where she notes that Tim Walz brings “liberated” ethnic studies to Minnesota. She notes, “Beginning in kindergarten, the states school children will be indoctrinated in radical racial ideology.”
