An Albert Lea man was sentenced in Freeborn County District Court on Wednesday to 180 days in jail, a stayed four-year prison term and 25 years of supervised probation for molesting a child in 2019 and 2020.

Michael Curtis Fry, 34, pleaded guilty in October to two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim under 13 by someone who is more than 36 months older. Two other counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, one involving multiple acts, as well as one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct were dismissed.

Court documents stated police were first made aware of the allegations in May 2023. In an interview with staff from the Freeborn County Department of Human Services, monitored by an Albert Lea police detective, the victim stated the inappropriate touching had occurred about three years prior in spring 2020 when she was 9 years old.
