The Alden-Conger school board on Friday morning accepted the resignation of its shared superintendent with Glenville-Emmons Schools and decided to let the district’s shared superintendent agreement expire at the end of June.
“We just feel it’s in the best interest of our district to move forward on our own,” Alden-Conger school board Chairman Chad Schmidt said in a phone call after the meeting.
He said the board thought there could be some cost savings by looking for their own superintendent and possibly combining a few positions, and they will move forward in starting the search for a new leader.
Allen Berg in his resignation letter said it had been an honor to serve in the district and that he was proud of the work they accomplished together.
“We have made significant strides in setting up the district for financial success, which I hope continues in the future,” Berg said. This progress would not have been possible without the dedication and collaboration of the board, staff and community. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to work alongside such committed individuals.”
Berg has been with the two districts for less than a year. His last day with both districts will be June 30.
The Glenville-Emmons board accepted Berg’s resignation in a meeting on Wednesday.
