Area schools closing, starting late because of extreme cold

Several area schools are switching to virtual learning for classes on Tuesday as all of the state remains under an extreme cold warning.
According to the National Weather Service, wind chill values are expected to reach as low as 41 degrees below zero Tuesday morning.
The following schools will have virtual classes:
• Albert Lea Area Schools
• Alden-Conger Schools
• Glenville-Emmons Schools
• Northwood-Kensett Schools
• United South Central Schools
Lake Mills Community School is scheduled to start two hours late with no morning preschool or other morning activities.
